What prior qualifications do I need?

We do not set absolute pre-requisites for training. Each individual course specification on this website contains recommended general pre-requisites. If, at your own risk you choose to attend with a lower level of prior skills and knowledge, you may not be able to take full advantage of the training you have paid for.

How will my course be assessed or re-assessed?

Most of our courses contain an end of course assessment to confirm what knowledge and/ or skills you have acquired on the course. Our assessment decisions are made using our professional judgement against industry recognised standards.

The course will fully prepare you for the assessment so there should be no surprises. Bearing in mind the safety critical nature of the industry, we will try to put you at your ease and give you opportunity to correct minor errors on the day. If you were suitably prepared before attending the course, and study diligently throughout the course, you should have no great problem in achieving a successful result.

We will strive our hardest for your success, but please bear in mind that your course fee cannot be refunded if you are not successful.

If you are not successful, we will advise you of possible corrective actions you could take.

You may wish to  come back for a re-assessment on a future date when you feel you are ready. We may make an additional charge for a re-assessment.

What qualification will I receive at the end of the course?

Following your course you will receive an individual certificate detailing the course title, subjects covered, and extent of theoretical and practical assessment. No training organisation can issue any “authority to work” or “certificate of competence” -  this can only be issued by your employer. As a highly respected training organisation, Signet Solutions’ course certificates are universally recognised by employers in the industry.

Is there car parking at Signet Solutions?

There is a main car park opposite the RTC Business Park on London Road. Please note there is NO PARKING inside the Business Park – you must park in the main car park. Please ensure you have a parking permit displayed in your car while visiting Signet Solutions Ltd this will be issued to you with your Joining Instructions but if not by the Security Guard on arrival.

When does my course start?

If you are booked on a course with us, specific joining instructions will be issued in good time to your training administrator.

If you are unable to get specific information, the following will provide a last resort guide:
 
Multiple day courses OF 3 DAYS, 5 DAYS AND 10 DAYS duration the start and end times are as follow:

Monday - 10:30 - 16:30

Tuesday - 9:30 - 16:30

Wednesday - 9:30 - 16:30

Thursday - 9:30 - 16:30

Friday - 9:30 - 14:30 approximately

 

 

One-day courses or assessments usually start at 09:30 and end at 16:30

What do I need to bring to the course?

Safety footwear and overalls are advised for courses of a practical nature.
 
High visibility clothing or wet weather gear are not usually necessary as all practical equipment is inside.
 
If you are attending an SMTH (initial or recertification) or signalling failure investigation (SFI) type course, you should bring your handbook with you and also current or recently expired SMTH Certificate.

How can I cancel or defer my course?

If you think you may not be able to attend your course on the planned date, please contact us as soon as possible. If your course has been arranged with us through another contact such as a training manager at your company, please contact them first. Please be aware that cancellation charges may apply  - see the question “How can I pay for my course?” for our cancellation policy.

Are there food and refreshments at Signet Solutions?

Before course start and in break times, all delegates are welcome to complementary hot and cold drinks in our delegate lounge.

There is an on-site restaurant offering a range of lunch options, from sandwiches through snacks to full hot meals. Delegates on open courses will receive a daily voucher to the value of £5 to be redeemed in the restaurant. Other customers can choose to pre-purchase restaurant vouchers, or to buy lunches individually for cash.

There is a twice daily trolley service selling drinks and snacks and sandwiches (lunch vouchers cannot be redeemed on this service). There is also a tuck shop selling cold cans, crisps and chocolate bars available at the Signet Office.

How can I pay for my course?

Credit Account

If you are already on our approved Customer database you may take advantage of our 30 day credit facility on production of valid purchase order detailing your company name and full billing address.

Non Credit Account Customers

For non account customers; payment can be made by cheque or electronically to our bank account via BACS or CHAPS – bank details on request.

Credit/Debit cards

We are also able to take payment by credit or debit cards via Barclaycard ePDQ Lite either over the telephone, email or fax.  Please note there will be an additional 3% charge for this facility.  Cards currently accepted are Visa Credit and MasterCard, Visa Debit, Visa Electron and UK Maestro and Solo.  

Please note that Signet Solutions Limited does not store any credit/debit card information for any persons at any time.  Therefore you would need to provide these details every time you need to pay. 

Instalments

We recognise that it is sometimes difficult to pay the full amount for our courses in one go; therefore we are happy to accept payment in instalments providing the full amount is settled before commencement of training. 

VAT

VAT will be charged at the current prevailing rate at time of billing for courses delivered in the UK.

International Billing

As we provide our services to organisations all over the world we are happy to invoice in any EC or international currency if necessary.

Terms and Conditions of Contract – Cancellation Policy

The Client is required to advise the Company in WRITING of any cancellation of services at least 56 days prior to commencement of training.

  • Cancellations advised 29 to 56 days prior to commencement of Training will be subject to a charge of 50% of full course fees.
  • Cancellations advised 21 to 28 days prior to commencement of Training will be subject to a charge of 75% of full course fees.
  • Cancellations advised less than 21 days prior to commencement of Training will be subject to a charge of 100% of full course fees.
